   How and when do they decide the order that they go in the parade?

     For string bands, there is a random drawing early in the year to determine the order. Fancy Brigades do their drawing later in the year.

   Thanks so much for streaming this! It was an annual tradition in my household to watch on New Years! So glad I still get to watch from MD! The placing of the flowers at the end was a beautiful touching tribute, not only to his father, but to all the past Mummers no longer with us!

     I wish they would have it on all over so people can see the summers we don’t see it here in Jacksonville Florida My husband was in the parade I wish we could see it

   I wait every year to watch th parade on the internet here in orlando, always a problem, and never on chromecast. Will it try again this year?

     No. The parade will be streamed online outside of the Philadelphia area.

   whatever happened to the 2street string band and the Italian-American String Band? Is there any possibility that the String Band division could ever encourage these or other past bands to re-organize?

     Sadly, it has been a challenge to keep some of the bands on the street as it is, much less bringing back the groups that disbanded many years ago. Trilby, a long time string band, is on the verge of folding, if they have not done so already. This is the first time that an association band has failed to go down the street at least three years running.

     There was once a policy that if an association band failed to perform three years running, they would lose their String Band Association franchise. The last time the membership of the association was changed was in the late 40s when Greater Overbrook was admitted.
