Replying to my Avalon DQ question:
During Murray captain Dennis Pellegrino’s MUMMOPOLY theme performance earlier in the parade, posted at PHL17.com, TV host Steve Highsmith commented on the 20 sq. ft. game board laid down: “I love the fact that he’s using a tarp. South Philadelphia String Band brought a tarp in several years ago, started a little tarp craze, and then they banned tarps. Now tarp is back – at least for the comics.”
It was Another Great Mummers day Parade. Great Job by all The Mummers in all Divisions. Keep This Great Tradition Going. Happy New year
Was with comics for several years when was at young age, moved over to Golden Crown fancies afterward, glad to see them finally get the top prize……….
HUH? WHY did tarp use disqualify Avalon? What position would they have finished? . . . Your Ferko vid is clipped short . . .
Where is the results for Comics? We all know Murray won like always but the brigades deserve some shine. The groups and individuals too!
You have come a long way from the days of my youth in Kensington. Congratulations to all Mummers and organizers of the greatest parade in this country. You make us all proud of our city! Hopefully I will be there next year with my wife, children and grandchildren. Thanks again for all your hard work. George Kientzy and family.
