Daily News Columnist,Stu Bykofsky is reporting that Homeland Security is dramatically enhancing security for the 2016 Mummers Parade. Some security measures being taken are:
- Steel sidewalk barricades between City Hall and Washington Avenue.
- Every vehicle to be used in the parade must be reported in advance, complete with driver’s name and date of birth, make/model of vehicle, license plate number and cell phone for driver.
- Police Dogs
- Cops will also check visible credentials of parade participants and will eject those not showing them.
Let us know in the comments section what you think about the new security measures.
I hated the barricades. I am SOOOOOOO ok with safety, but this was overkill and spoiled some of the spirit of the parade. It was reallllllllly too much.
Welcome to the new world order. I wish we could have something like this on 2st. and maybe some of the problems would go away.
Next check a-holes on second street
Thee new security measures are over the top.
