I receive a lot of emails around this time of year from people who are planning to come to Philadelphia to see the Mummers Parade on January 1. I am often asked to recommend hotels near the parade route. At the bottom of this post, I put together a list of hotels that would be good for tourists visiting for the Mummers Parade.

Mummers Parade Grand Stand Tickets
| Tickets for the Mummers Parade Grand Stand bleacher seats at City Hall are $20. You can purchace tickets by calling 1-800-537-7676, or tickets can be purchased in person at the Independence Visitor Center on 6th and Market streets or at the Welcome Center on 16th Street and JFK Boulevard.
Please Note: You do not need tickets in order to see the Mummers Parade. Tickets are only required if you want to see the Mummers perform for the judges at the city hall grand stand. There are plenty of great spots to watch the Mummers for free along the parade route. |

where’s a good place to park, and what’s a good time to arrive?
Parking close to the parade route is usually very difficult because many of the roads and cross roads are closed and it’s very expensive to park in a garage if you can actually find one.
Your best bet is taking SEPTA to the parade. Many people drive and park near a rail station and then jump on the Broad Street Subway, Market Frankford El or the SEPTA Regional Rail. All three rail lines will drop you off right in the middle of the parade at Philadelphia City Hall. SEPTA.com has maps, schedules and parking information.
The time to arrive is up to you and it depends on what you want to see. Below is the link to the TV times from 2015. It’s a good gauge for what the timing might look like for 2016.
